Boarding Policies

At American Pet Spa & Resort, the health and safety of our guests is our top concern. To ensure that all of our guests have a fun and enjoyable stay, we have several policies that we require all of our guests and their owners to be mindful of and abide by. Whether you are thinking about signing your pet up for overnight boarding or doggy daycare, we encourage you to take a few moments to review our boarding policies.

We work hard to maintain a clean, healthy environment for our guests and we take several steps to ensure safe stays for all of our guests. All boarding areas are set up on separate air conditioning and heating units to limit the spread of airborne illnesses. We use medical-grade cleaners throughout our facility to eliminate viruses and bacteria, and each room and patio is cleaned and sanitized daily.

Vaccinations

All canine boarders must be up to date on their Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. We require current Rabies, FVRCP, and Leukemia vaccines for all feline guests. We require an updated record of your pet’s vaccinations prior to your boarding date. We will not board any pets without appropriate records. Puppies and kittens cannot stay with us until they are at least 16 weeks old and have received all of their booster vaccines.

Keep in mind that it takes a few days for your pet to become inoculated against illnesses after being vaccinated. For this reason, we recommend that your pet be vaccinated at least one week prior to boarding.

Food & Treats

Proper nutrition is important while your pet is away from home, and we find it’s best to not change their diet. We ask that you provide their normal food in separate bags for each meal. We will follow your instructions when feeding your pet.

Treats are given after mealtimes, up to three times per day. We will dispense them according to your instructions.

Personal Items

Your pet may feel more comfortable while staying with us if they have some of their personal items from home. You are welcome to bring their bed, blanket, toys, or anything else that might make your fur baby comfortable. Please mark all of the items with your name in a manner that won’t wash off. We will wash your pet’s personal items if they become soiled.

We encourage you to bring your pet’s bed and a couple of toys. Something with your scent - such as an old T-shirt - may make an excellent comfort item, too. While we welcome you to provide personal items for your pet, we ask that you be reasonable and keep the number of items to a minimum. We will do our best to keep your pet’s items in good condition, but we cannot make guarantees. We are not responsible for your pet’s personal belongings or the repair or replacement of them.

When you arrive, we will inventory your pet’s personal belongings.

Medications & Parasites

If your pet requires medication, we will administer them according to their instructions. It is crucial to ensure that you provide enough medication to last their stay. Let us know the best way to give your pet their medication so that we can administer the correct dosage in a manner that your pet is used to. You will be charged $4.50 per day for administering medications. Please note that we do not administer injections.

All of our guests are examined for external parasites, such as fleas and ticks. If we find parasites on your pet, your pet will be given a flea bath at your expense.

Boarding Pick up and Drop off Hours

You can pick up or drop off any time between 7:30am-5:30pm Monday-Saturday and 11am-1pm on Sunday.

If your pet is getting a grooming service on the day of pick up, we will call you as soon as they are finished. A specified pick-up time cannnot be accommodated, as we have several pets leaving daily who get these services.

Deposits

There is a $50.00 deposit required for each room when making your boarding reservation. Deposits must be paid when boarding appointments are made. This deposit will be applied to your final bill. If you cancel your pet’s reservation at least 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival, your deposit will be returned. Deposits are not returned for stays that are canceled less than 14 days prior to the arrival date or for any reservations for the week before, week of, and week after major holidays are nonrefundable, as well as during our peak seasons like summer, spring break, and fall break. If you make a reservation less than five days before your arrival date, you will not receive your deposit back. In addition, if we are unable to board your pet because you fail to provide proper vaccination records by check-in, you will not receive your deposit back.
